What Does the Bible Say?
A
Christian Perspective.
What does the
Bible have to say?
Perhaps the most important, yet most difficult,
aspect of our Debt Relief Educational Programs and processes has to do with what the Bible
says about money, debt, usury (interest), repayment,
forgiveness, and a host of other equally relevant
topics.
As
a Christian Educational & Service Organization,
our prayer at KINGDOM DEBT SOLUTIONS, is that
you will take some time to patiently & thoughtfully
explore this page as we attempt to share what
we have learned from hundreds of hours of study
of both the Bible (God's revealed word) and
the moral issues surrounding debt relief.
While
not an exhaustive study of the topics, this
page will hopefully explain the major reasons
why we believe that debt relief is not an unbiblical
service nor is it encouraging irresponsibility,
"debt avoidance", or the like. In
fact, it's quite to the contrary! We encourage
you to read on....
God's Example of Debt Relief . . . . .
We realize that Leviticus is in the Old Testament
(the other side of the cross), but Romans 15:2 says,"whatever things were written before
were for our learning". It shows the heart
of God. Since Redemption means "liberty"
and "freedom" from debt and obligation,
we would like to look at what we believe to
be God's equivalent to debt relief.
The
Jubilee Year, also known as the "year of
liberty" in Ezekiel 46:17, was proclaimed
on the fiftieth year after seven cycles of seven
years. This fiftieth year was a time when specific
instructions about property and slavery outlined
in the Jewish law took effect (see Lev. 25:8-55).
The
word "jubilee" comes from a Hebrew
word meaning "ram's horn" or "trumpet".
The Jubilee Year was launched with a blast from
a ram's horn on the Day of Atonement, signifying
a call to celebration, liberation, and the beginning
of a year for "doing justice" and "loving
mercy".
The
fiftieth year was a special year in which to
"proclaim liberty throughout all the land" (Lev. 25:10). Individuals who had sold themselves
as slaves or indentured servants because of
indebtedness were released from their debts
and set free. If a family's land had been taken
because of indebtedness, this land was returned
to the original owners in the Jubilee year.
God
apparently established the Jubilee Year to prevent
the Israelites from oppressing and cheating
one another (Lev. 25:17). This law prevented
a permanent system of classes from developing;
it gave everyone the opportunity to start over
- economically and socially.
The
Jubilee Year reminds us of God's concern for
human liberty and freedom. God wants people
to be free (Luke 4:18-19). Calling into question
any social practice that leads to permanent
bondage, divorce, destroyed families, bankruptcy,
and loss of economic opportunity. It also stands
as a witness to God's grace and His desire for
justice, freedom, peace, and joy upon the earth.
The
Concept of Forgiveness . . . . .
Much like the concept of having your sins forgiven
by Jesus Christ's death on the cross (covering
a debt we could not pay), so too does the debt relief
process forgive or reduce debt that holds people in
bondage setting them free from something they
may never be able to pay.
When
a person realizes that he or she is a sinner
that needs to be saved, receives forgiveness,
and starts life as a new creation in Christ,
the realization of this spiritual truth serves
as motivation to love the Lord with all your
heart, mind, and strength - committing never
to return to the past lifestyle. This is what
being born-again is all about!
Allowing
the us to serve and educate you and your family
and "forgive" as much of your debt
as possible, will hopefully motivate you to
never again become enslaved to the worldly system
of high interest rates, and usury that usually accompanies debt. Our prayer is that you
will then have the freedom & desire to follow
biblical principals that have stood the test
of time!
It
is our hope & prayer that having an overwhelming
financial burden forgiven will save marriages,
alleviate undue stress and serious health problems
(both physical and emotional), and most importantly
restore a deep spiritual relationship with God
that has been lost or damaged.
With
love & appreciation now motivating the church,
perhaps the body of Christ will now make giving
(a lost biblical mandate!) of primary importance!!
Every
Christian's Goal . . . . .
The Christian's goal & desire in our opinion
should be to owe nothing to anyone except to
love one another (Romans 13:8) and not be a
slave to money (Matthew 6:24), but a bondservant
of Christ (Colossians 4:12, Romans 1:1).
Credit
card debt (or any debt) makes us a slave/servant
to that which is unbiblical and ungodly. We
should do whatever we can - legally! - to get
out of these situations (repent?) and do a 180
degree turn to remove ourselves from this worldly
bondage.
We
ask that you prayerfully consider all of this
information as well as consider calling us to
learn more - we would greatly value the opportunity
to serve you and your family. Thank you in advance
and God Bless!
| Other Scripture to Consider . . . . . |
(All scripture is from the New American Standard
Bible)
John
8:32 - "...and you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free."
Hosea
4:6a - "My people are destroyed for lack
of knowledge."
Proverbs
24:5-6 - "A wise man is strong, and a man
of knowledge increases power. For by wise guidance
you will wage war, and in abundance of counselors
there is victory."
1
Timothy 6:10 - "For the love of money is
a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing
for it have wandered away from the faith, and
pierced themselves with many a pang."
Exodus
22:25 - "If you lend money to my people,
to the poor among you, you are not to act as
a creditor to him; you shall not charge him
interest."
Leviticus
25:36-37 - "Do not take usurious interest
from him. . . . you shall not give him your
silver at interest, nor your food for gain."
Deuteronomy
23:19 - "You shall not charge interest
to your countrymen: interest on money, food,
or anything that may be loaned at interest."
Psalm
37:21 - "The wicked borrow and does not
pay back, but the righteous is gracious and
gives." [We absolutely agree, however, in our society, with the high interest charges (usury) of some , like credit card banks, medical debt not covered by insurance, job lay-offs, divorce, and just the bumps of life, good people can get in financial trouble. When this happens, they need help.]
Proverbs
22:7 - "The rich rules over the poor, and
the borrower becomes the lenders slave."
Deuteronomy
28:12 - "The Lord will open for you His
good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to
your land in its season and to bless all the
work of your hand; and you shall lend to many
nations but you shall not borrow."
The Good News . . . . .
Ephesians 2:8 - "For by grace are you saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves; it
is the gift of God."
Romans
10:9-10 - "If you confess with your mouth
that Jesus is Lord, and shall believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you
shall be saved. For with the heart man believes
into righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation."
Romans
8:35-39 - "Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword? As it is written, for your
sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter. No, in
all these things we are more than conquerors
through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded,
that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor present nor things
to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other
creature shall be able to separate us from the
love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
God
didn't send His Son to pay for the forgiveness
of your sin, and then decide He is going to
require you to make installment payments. He
only requires you to believe that the FULL PAYMENT
was done over 2000 years ago....then you'll
stop trying to make the installments on something
you could never pay for anyway.
The
Good News is that He wants you debt free.....in
every aspect of your life!
God
is NOT mad at you!!....No matter what!!
He
loves you!!.....and he promised to get you through
it, if you'll let Him!!
We
are trusting God to send us the right people
that we need to help. If you decide to take
"THE FREEDOM HIGHWAY", we will assume
you are here because God lead you here. "What
ever you do, do in faith", "We walk
by faith, not by sight". So, buckle your
seat belt, and let's "put the pedal to
the metal" and get you set FREE of the
bondage of debt..
"Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3
John 1:3)
